адаптеру не присваивается MAC-адрес

В ноутбуке есть родной модуль WI-FI, но он не поддерживает 5 Ггц. поэтому был приобретен адаптер TP-Link Archer T2U Nano (AC600).
проблема заключается в следующем: после установки драйвера rtl8812au система начинает видеть 5Ггц сети, но не может к ним подключиться (постоянно просит пароль). Немного покопавшись я обнаружил, что адаптеру не присваивается MAC-адрес, мб поэтому не подключается к сети. 붂>Z - это и есть адаптер, при извлечении из юсб он пропадает

мною были накатаны дрова по схеме с данного сайта, - не помогло. после я извлек родной модуль, переустановил систему полностью и снова накатил дрова - не помогло.
Так же я пробовал установить пакетную прошивку

Вот это MAC адрес вашего адаптера. Дело явно не в этом.
Если просит пароль - скорее всего что-то с криптографией. Разрешенные протоколы аутентификации совпадают на точке и машине? Для проверки, если есть доступ к настройкам точки, можно попробовать отключить на ней шифрование полностью и попробовать подключится так. Если заработает - разбираться что там с протоколами дальше.

Хм, да, это меня спросонья проглючило. Таки да, mac пустой. И это странно, т.к. mac должен быть в самой прошивке нормальной железки, даже если есть возможность его программно менять (не всегда она есть). Если же железка не имеет своего собственного мака вообще, (может на драйвер полагается) - это мы значит имеем очередную реинкарнацию железяк класса "winmodem", "winprinter" и т.д. - особо тупое железо, вместо которого все что можно должна система программно делать, и грузящих тем самым процессор компа. Если оно так - лучше сдать назад сразу. Это вечный источник геморроя.

Дайте-ка сначала вывод lsusb, и lsusb -v (раздельно) сюда, при подключенном свистке разумеется. Посмотрим детально, что он за зверь такой...

и dmesg | tail -n 20 в придачу сразу после подключения свистка... может дровина не находит фирмварю для модема и не прогружает при подключении...

tovarishch, Судя по этому топику: Подключение Archer T2U Nano - человек с точно таким же адаптером (начинка) ставил точно такой же драйвер. У него заработало. Так что либо ваш экземпляр устройства немного того, либо проблема не в MAC и не в драйвере, а все же где-то выше - в протоколах криптографии...
Еще раз рекомендую попробовать тест без шифрования (т.е. "незащищенное соединение", без пароля на WiFi).

попробовал с телефона раздать - телефон отображает подключение и даже фиксирует какой то мас адрес, но вот компьютер подключиться к сети не смог

journalctl -b и пролистать до конца. В таком виде команда показывает системный лог от загрузки до текущего момента.

А вот как раз о таком адаптере и речь: Обновление LinuxMint-20.3-Una до LinuxMint-21-Vanessa (Пост antropomorf #126217)
То есть, можно попробовать обновить ядро и через менеджер драйверов удалить доп. драйвер. Ну или поставить Минт 21, раз уж он вышел.
